Does Microsoft House really Exist??
















Microsoft home? What does it look like? Does it has high tech bathrooms and kitchens? Is there a universal remote control for the TV, lightings, doors, windows, air conditioning, refrigerator and the music system. Does the house talk to you? Question is, does this kind of house even exist, and the answer is Yes it does and its way beyond our expectations.
A shining steel, geodesic structure where food appears upon command, where physical walls are replaced by lightening effects, robots handle all manual chores, makeover of your room is changed according to your moodset. Does this fit your general vision of the home of the future? Blame that on Hollywood. What might the average home look like in the next few years? This big question floats around the Microsoft Home, situated within a building on the company’s main corporate campus in Redmond, Wash. The home’s mission: To explore ways technology could improve our daily lives in the near future.

Microsoft Home is but one possible vision of what the average person’s home might be like in five to 10 years. Although government officials and Microsoft employees have been granted access to view the Microsoft House, its still not opened for public, But I can best describe the view and functions of the house according to what I found on the internet through the research.

You enter the house by placing your palm on a glass panel by the front door to prove your identity. You are welcomed by a panel which indicates the temprature and provides options to set up the lightening effect and music etc before you enter the house.
The house is connected to every member of family and it knows the calendars and schedules, if you would like to be tracked you can wear a GPS watch or carry a cellphone and you will be connected to the house 24/7 no matter where ever you are in the world.
As the house comes to life, it’s remarkable how unremarkable everything looks. The furniture looks a little nicer than what we have, and it certainly is a little cleaner. Best thing, it stays that way.
You can set in the options if you would like you HDTV to turn on automatically when you enter your bedroom, and than there’s a large variety of media options that are available. We can watch TV from cable or satellite; access anything that we have stored on our PC, surf the Internet, or look at photos. Shared subscription services also allow us to access music and media from friends and family. When you got to leave, the HOUSE pauses the music and it resumes when you jump in your car and turns on your LCD car TV right where you left it off.
There’s this thing called Radio Frequency ID tags also known as SmartTags, which many large Retail chains are currently using in their retail products. The house has sensors which detects them and performs a lot of daily life functions that helps making your life a lot more luxurious and comfortable. For e.g when you get back home after grocery shopping and lay your stuff anywhere in the kitchen, the microwave detects how much cooking time should an item take. The refrigerator shouts when an item is missing in it because you probably don’t like ending up with no beer in the fridge while watching a movie. By the way, did I mention? The house actually talks to you. So, through its SmartTag sensors it beeps you when you are about to throw a red shirt with white in the washing machine instead of knowing it THE HARD WAY.
Moreover, a mirror in the bedroom closet uses OLED technology to display the weather and reads the SmartTags in clothes hanging in the closet to help mix and match items appropriate for the outside temperature. Regardless of the weather, it can also use the SmartTag information to help the fashion-challenged assemble an outfit that goes together.
And last but not the least, the bedroom is programmed to enhance a story, LED lights are able to present lightening effects and form different images on the ceiling and the walls, and we can hear digital sound effects in the background. We can also improvise the images into animations. So guess what happens when you command your house to ENHANCE A STORY, It reacts and starts illuminating your words into a presentation.

Enoughhh..! Now, Does that mean this kind of house is really coming near to us ??

Google Street View, No more Privacy?










Well I bet every person in this world wishes if he/she could travel to anywhere in the world and actually drive down its city's streets while checking out some of the local attractions? Google Street View does just that, providing 360-degree street-level views of places all around the world. The views are taken from cameras mounted on cars that capture everything, and we mean everything, around them. And that's part of the problem...









On certain city views, women have been caught sunbathing and a few guys have been pictured coming out of strip clubs. Once this gets further and the technology is advanced, we will see people fighting and smoking pot across the streets, we can see at what time the street hookers get around in Milan, Italy, Not just that but any of those, who bunk colleges could be caught with girlfriends by their parents somewhere around the street. The feature on Google Maps has raised questions about personal privacy, and lawyers in Japan are asking Google to take down the images. While it may be a groundbreaking new use for the internet (anyone wanna go on a tour of Rome?), it also infringes on peoples' rights to privacy -- who knows when a car mounted with a camera could be driving down your street, catching you doing something you'd rather keep secret?

Advanced Track & Trace makes Seal Vector, a digital anticounterfeiting and tracking technology that can be printed or marked on virtually any material. Think of it as a bar code that "leaks" data when copied. With a simple scan, copies can be detected because they contain less data than the original. Corporate customers include beauty products group L'Oréal, pharmaceutical companies, and French wine producers.

Etsy is a digital marketplace for buyers and sellers of handmade goods ranging from robots to rocking horses. The idea is "to empower small businesses and keep the big guys out," says Kalin, the company's founder. Etsy has attracted 200,000 sellers from 100 countries and expects to handle $100 million in transactions this year. It charges 20¢ for each listing, and sellers who want to showcase their wares can pay an additional $7 to $15 a day for advertising. Etsy also takes 3.5% of the price of every item sold.

Intergalactic conquests, gladiator quests, and gothic adventures with vampires and werewolves have attracted more than 65 million players in 36 countries to register for Gameforge's 25 multiplayer online games. The games, available in 50 languages, are free and work on any device that has an Internet connection and a browser. The company makes its money from selling features that give players an edge, such as virtual magic swords. It's forecasting more than $130 million in revenues in 2009.

BrightSource Energy's solar thermal technology uses thousands of small mirrors to reflect sunlight onto a boiler atop a tower to produce high-temperature steam, which is then piped to a turbine that generates electricity. The company claims its system, originally developed in Israel, offers higher operating efficiencies than other solar thermal technologies, making it competitive with fossil fuels. The company has raised more than $160 million from investors.

The service not only allows people to look up nutrition information via the Internet or their mobile phones, but also monitors users' conditions as they log in their blood sugar levels, calorie intake, exercise, and other variables.

BioMedica developed a lab test for blood clots, QuikCoag, that is widely sold in developed countries. Now Kirumira, a Uganda native and trained chemist, is using proceeds from QuikCoag to improve medical diagnostics in some of the world's poorest countries. He has developed a testing kit, Complete Lab, that can be set up in primitive clinics to test for more than 90 diseases, from HIV to malaria.

SpinVox's technology uses a combination of voice recognition, artificial intelligence, and natural liguistics to convert voice messages to text. SpinVox has deals with operators around the globe and expects to reach 100 million customers by 2009.

Slide helps put the fun in online applications. Its first product, available on social networks like Bebo, MySpace, and Orkut, allows users to upload, decorate, and share photos as slide shows. It's also behind two of the most popular widgets on Facebook: Top Friends, which lets users install quick links to their virtual buddies, and FunWall, an interactive billboard that lets users share videos, posters, and fun messages. Slide is perhaps best known for SuperPoke!, an application offering virtual hijinks like "sheep throwing" and "trout slap."

RecycleBank has launched programs in 15 states that motivate people to recycle household waste. It provides each household with a container featuring an embedded Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag. When recycling crews empty the container, scanners on their trucks record the weight of the contents and transmit the information to a RecycleBank account. Households accumulate reward points that can be used for purchases at more than 800 retailers, including Target and IKEA.

It claims to be the first Wi-Fi-based controller capable of providing a maintenance-free sensor network.

Recycla Chile was the first company in Latin America to recycle discarded computers, television, mobile phones, fax machines, and other electronic gizmos. Such e-trash accounts for 70% of toxic waste in landfills. Electronics makers collect old devices from business customers and send them to Recycla, which extracts valuable materials. Most of the work is done by former prison inmates, whom the company hires to help them reintegrate into society.

Dueber says Zpower batteries can as much as double the time between recharges.
